Have you filed a homeowners insurance claim? Then they must have sent a public adjuster to help you quantify all the damages and help you determine a claim payout. With the payout, your insurance company will determine how much money it will take to repair or replace the damages.

However, there are instances where you will believe that the payout is not just and you should be getting the compensation you should. Therefore, you need to get the best and the most qualified public adjuster to help you get the best outcome.

Who Is A Public Adjuster?

A public insurance adjuster is a professional who helps different individuals with the claim process of homeowners insurance. Many people often confuse a public adjuster with an insurance company adjuster. However, the core difference between the two is that the public adjuster advocates for the policyholders. These experts are trained, and licensed insurance professionals are extremely thorough in damage analysis. Their complete focus is on the idea that policyholders should get complete compensation for their insurance claims.

What Does A Public Adjuster Do?

A public adjuster can do an important job where they work for the policyholder and ensure their claim reaches a fair settlement. Their job description may include the following:

  • Evaluation of damages and the estimation of repairs needed. They calculate the cost and the time it will take to repair or replace damaged property.
  • They can also help policyholders understand how their insurance policy works and other details such as filing of documents and tracking claims.
  • A public adjuster also acts as a bridge between the insurer and the policyholder so they can reach a better settlement.
  • They can negotiate on your behalf and help you get the best outcomes for your claims.

Hurricane Nicole

Hurricane Nicole

Hurricane Nicole first formed as a subtropical cyclone on 7 November. Later that day, the hurricane grew into a tropical cyclone, and on 9 November, it entered the land of Great Abaco and the Grand Bahama. After making landfall, the hurricane gained a lot of strength and became a Category 1 Hurricane.

The hurricane entered Florida on 10 November. It made landfall in two places, Vero Beach and Cedar Key. However, the hurricane transformed into an extratropical cyclone when moving to the Florida Panhandle. Nicole had a size advantage despite being weak; it caused heavy rainfall and devastatingly strong winds. The strong winds caused a power outage all over the area, significantly damaging different areas in Florida. The winds on the onshore were strong and blew over the east coast. These winds produced severe beach erosion in areas, especially Volusia, St. John, and Flagler counties.

The death toll from Hurricane Nicole has risen to over 11 deaths. Six have been declared in the Dominican Republic and Five in Florida. The governor of Ron DeSantis, on 7 November, declared a state of emergency. The state of emergency spread over 34 counties, including Palm Beach and Miami Dade. The president decided to order federal assistance for the state.

Schools were shut down throughout the counties, including theme parks. Events like the Pelican Women’s Championship were postponed due to the storm. The damage was severe in Volusia County; over 50 coastal condominiums, hotels, and single-family homes collapsed because of beach erosion. St. Johns Country, the hurricane caused significant damage to the 6-7 miles long State Road section. Moreover, the property damage amounted to $500 million.

There were 5 deaths in Florida after Hurricane Nicole, two of which were killed due to electrocution from power lines in Conway. Another two people died in a crash on Turnpike. The last person was found dead in a yacht in Cocoa.

The hurricane’s strength was calculated to be 75 mph when it came ashore at Port St. John, and the storm erosion also unearthed the Native American burial ground on South Hutchinson. There was a significant power outage all over the state. Many businesses and over 300.000 homes lost power.

Hurricane Nicole was the first November hurricane in 37 years to hit the United States. The hurricane has traveled from the US coast to Western Europe and has formed an extratropical cyclone.

Hurricane Ian

Hurricane lan -2

Hurricane Ian took over Southwestern Florida on 26th September 2022. It was a high-end category 4 storm that caused a great deal of destruction in the Caribbean before reaching Florida.

Hurricane Ian formed in the central Caribbean on 23rd September, slowly becoming a hurricane. The maximum winds recorded were 105 mph, and it fulfilled the requirements of the National Hurricane Center’s threshold as a Rapid Intensification. This meant that the storm was gaining a lot of momentum quickly. It was gaining around 35m/h in less than 24 hours. It was the strongest hurricane after Hurricane Felix, which emerged in 2007, and the strongest hurricane in Florida after Hurricane Michael in 2018.

Ian brought significant damage to the western coast of Florida. It brought intense winds, storm surges, and hefty rainfall. The storm surge had an inundation of 12 to 18 feet above ground level. The entire southern western side of Florida was poorly hit, especially the city of Fort Meyers. It was hit with a surge of 7.26 feet, a record high.

However, over the period, the hurricane weakened into a tropical storm and entered the inland, which crossed the Florida peninsula. Despite its weakened state, Ian still managed to cause great damage because of the heavy rainfall. The extreme rainfall was very destructive, and some of the areas experienced high amounts of rainfall in very little time. Lake Wales in central Florida experienced 17 inches of rain in 24 hours, and Placida had 15 inches of rain.

The storm caused a power outage for four million people in Florida. The death toll from the hurricane went all the way up to 99 on Monday, and then 4 more people died in North Carolina. Lee County had the most amounts of death as it includes areas that were hit the hardest, such as Fort Meyers, Pine Island, and Sanibel. Access to Fort Myers beach was restricted so that the authorities could easily investigate the deaths. Looting incidents also caused damage to people’s property, and four people were arrested for looting.

A boat capsized on the coastline during the hurricane, and the 16 Cuban migrants remained missing out of 27 total passengers. Nine of them were rescued by the US Coast Guard, and two more swam to safety.

If your family has suffered a lot of damage from Hurricane Ian, you can claim your insurance. You can get insurance claims for different things, such as flooding, and other damages, such as the damage to your car because of flooding.
